The desert and the temptation
He´s repeatedly offered me a payment of one hundred thousand crowns if I turn a blind eye to his credit transactions during my real property valuations .Of course, it´d have been done in such a way that if something went wrong I´d be able to vindicate myself.There wasn´t any problem,mistake or fraud from my professional view.Nobody will ever hear that I´ve got my payment.Clean money.A hundred thousand.How often do you get such an offer? In addition, in such a difficult situation in which our office……I´m working as a private businessman.I´m employing other 3 employees in a small commercial firm which offers the services of the real property valuation and estate agency.Or if you like it since February I´ve been employing only two people.It´s never crossed my mind that the crises hits us so soon and so harshly.Our monthly takings plummeted unexpectedly to 50% of the long-term monthly average in October 2008 and this year January results were even worse….I didn´t complain when George told me in the middle of January that he´d have liked to hand in his notice although I realized with a heavy heart how much time and energy it´d taken to let someone in on our activity.

Every morning Jack and I stand before the Lord saying salms, personal prayers and Our Father as well and we bring him our lives,work, thanks for all that he´s leading us through but also our apprehensions for the future.We stood before Him in the same way on February 11.When reading the salm the idea of the four month desert, which we were walking across, ran through my head.Then, out of the blue it´s dawned on me….a desert..THE DESERT..it´s the desert after all!!! And at the same time the offer, which a financial adviser had made at our appointment the day before, crossed my mind.

In addition, in such a difficult situation in which our office finds itself…One hundred thousand would help a great deal, it´s February, 10 – payday and for the second month in succession all of us are without bonuses, our commitments are delayed, and there are no funds to finance the web pages www.kromeriz.cz and our project “A piece of good”.To put it simply, “we can´t cope with it” …
To be frank with you, that man´s seemed to be a bit suspicious already on the phone.He wanted to meet me without witnesses and it´s always a little strange.So I´d rather find out in advance something about that transaction.Thanks to these findings I was well versed in the talks and guessed that ( it goes without saying that he didn´t tell me nor suspected that I´ve already known ..) that this money would come from the mortgage for the increased purchase price for the people whose house´d been sold in seizure and now they´re buying it for this increased price back from the temporary owner.
As a matter of fact, the higher valuation the larger profit…..My reaction was swift and he rather gaped at me when I told him:”No, thank you.I´m not going to “cut off” your deals…
A temptation.The desert and the temptation in the desert.Suddenly, during praying that salm everything came home to me.I shuddered all over by that deep innermost God touch.You might know it.Soon after it came to my mind the previous temptation I´d succumbed as opposed to this one.It was kind of the compromise where I´d added a thousand crowns to my regular invoice and then sent back to the purchaser of my valuation
( it stands to reason that I can´t go into particulars whose this thousand-crown note was .)It was at the beginning of December and we didn´t have almost anything to valuate and that person needed to make four valuations so I nodded.I justified myself by saying that it was “his problem” I didn´t have any profit from it and people had to live on something…..moreover, it was right before Chrismas……
Now the penny dropped.The temptation.Yeah, it was his problem and his fraud and I rather had a loss of tax from those thousand crowns but actually I helped him to commit the sin….I immediately understood and decided to finish with it.
I´ve experienced marvellous relief and happiness that God had given me this knowledge.And at the same time that well-known strange shudder, when God speaks, came with the knowledge of the situation ( the desert and the temptation at the desert )..What if it means that the end of the desert is near? I don´t know, something tells me so, but it hasn´t been so long for me to judge it like this…..However, an odd thing happens.Right on that day, when I knew the situation during the salm in the morning, was one day after the payday and there wasn´t necessary money for paying the instalment of the leasing that should depart through standing order.On the next day my assistant and I looked independently if some money happened to arrive. It didn´t and the leasing wasn´t paid.Two days later, I looked on my own again because I´ve encashed some ready money so I wanted to deposit it and issue a charging order so that we shouldn´t be delayed with paying the leasing.During this check I found out that the money not only had been there but that there had already been there two days ago and that even the leasing had been paid on schedule….It´s an enigma for me, nobody will explain to me how come that both of us overlooked it independently of one another….To tell the truth, I don´t mean to explain it somehow.
I don´t know if we are still in the desert and I am to expect the third temptation ( like Jesus Christ ) or we are already in the valley of the fecund Jordan…not only those strange things happening in my account suggest me that the desert should be behind us….But I´m grateful and encouraged for what I could experience by this experience and I believe that the Lord knows the right time in this sphere of my life.The best time….
I praise Him for the desert which he conquers me with and for the Jordan whose water blesses our work….For the word of LIFE that he gives to all of us although years of “drought” would come…..
