The testimony of the tithe
And if I were short of money again nowdays so in order to get out of this situation I´ll take one tenth of what I possess and I´ll go to give it to God. Loyally every month…. When I was reading the Dalibor´s testimony from the course Spiritual outfit of the Christian and his personal experience with the efficiency of the TITHE, I took a decision to issue the testimony about my experience with the TITHE as well.The thing is that it´s dawned on me that for a very long time it´d been quite difficult for me to give evidence about the TITHE.
Minimally since my wife´s become a deputy and her salary is considerably above the average of the common people´s salary.And so I´ve stopped giving evidence about the tithe ´cause I´ve begun being afraid of the reaction: “You can talk about the tithes when you´ve got a deputy salary at home….”or if you like “If we´d had such an income as you we´d have had no difficulty in paying the tithes as well…”.But the truth is a little bit different.I´ve heard about the tithes for the first time during the communist regime.In those days I´d understood God didn´t need our money / the whole world belongs to him / but it was us who needed to give God the tithes so that WE COULD BUILD OUR TRUST IN HIM.The trust in God doesn´t fall right into our lap all of a sudden and for fifteen years I´ve been giving the tithes I´ve understood that the TITHES were the best means of being on my guard and growing constantly in the loyalty and trust in God.The Church doesn´t force anyone to give these tithes, and this is very wise./ according to the Word of God /.Each man should give what he´s decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion , for God loves a cheerful giver.2Kor. 9,7 /
It´s surely a quite difficult and binding decision to opt for paying the tithes and it must be made completely freely to have it´s internal spiritual sense.
And so when I heard the Word of God fifteen years ago:
“For I´m the Lord I change not , therefore ye sons of Jackob aren´t consumed.Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances , and have not kept them.Return unto me, and I´ll return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.But ye said: Wherein shall we return?
Will a man rob God? Yet you´ve robbed me.But ye say:Wherein have we robbed thee?In tithes and offerings.Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye´ve robbed me, even this whole nation.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house and prove me now here with said the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing,that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, said the Lord of the hosts.And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, said the Lord of hosts”.Mal 3,6 12.
I was deeply touched.Since I longed for such a blessing, for the fullness not only spiritual but also material I took a decision to give God the tithes.The snag was that I´d been in an akward situation when we had a ramshackle house I was working on predominantly alone as long as my friends or my son in law didn´t help me for free.And now the idea of giving God the tenth of my income which I devided between building material and food.It was quite foolish but my heart was keen on Jesus and I believed in His faithfulness, in His blessing.This evidence would have to contain a lot of pages if I should write out gradually what kind of blessing the decision for the TITHE and the faithfulness in this decision became for me and my family. My wife and I´ve been giving the tithe and we´ve been teaching our boys / unfortunately, so far without success / to do the same thing / it must be a free decision /.After having finished to build and fit adequately our house,put a “nice”car into the garage, we´ve managed to have jobs we liked and in my case it supported other employees, I think that also because of the tithes we could “adopt at a distance”two girls from India so that God could bear witness to his Word:And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you´ll abound in every good work…”2 Corinthians 9,8
What shall I say in conclusion? If I added up our tithes that we gave God for His needs and compared with all that God´s blessed us up to now, however, what isn´t possible to express very often by money either, so we received at the very least hundred times that we´d given Him in faith.
And if I were penniless again nowdays and perhaps lacking in the basic needs and out of work, so the very first thing that I´ll do to get out of this situation, will be that I´ll take one tenth of what I possess and I´ll go to give it to God.Loyally every month. Not from what´s left me over but straight away from my dole.And I know for sure God´ll act.Since I´ll show Him as well as myself clearly that I´m serious about him.
After all Jesus´s also come that I may have life, and have it to the full. John 10,10.
Naturally it´s something else if I decide in my heart to live in poverty for God.But that´s a completely different matter…….
